Sunny Hills Preschool CurriculumOUR CREATIVE CURRICULUM introduces sensory, motor, perceptual and language skills through the purposeful selection of materials. Circle Time allows us to discuss our daily plans, play games, share stories, sing, dance, and explore poetry, finger-play and music. Working outside and in the studio provide opportunities for deeper inquiry and reflection, while allowing us space and time for ongoing project work with wire, weaving, wood and clay, watercolor, chalk and more. We will learn through everyday activities, like planting, caring for our garden, and ourselves. Schedules are designed to balance structure and allow our day to flow naturally from one part to the next.

PLAY encourages language and literacy, problem-solving, and a deeper learning across the curriculum. At Sunny Hills School, we provide ample time for child-directed play and exploration. It is through play that children connect, build friendships, and process their understanding of the world around them and their place in it.

THE STUDIO allows children to work in groups or independently, using a variety of art mediums and a space for long-term project work.

THE NEST (the library) is a special place where children can act out their stories, enjoy books, puppet shows, music, and movement.

"WHAT CHILDREN LEARN does not follow as an automatic result from what is taught; rather it is in large part due to the children’s own doing, as consequence of their activities and our resources."
~ Loris Malaguzzi
